An inclusive service for acute trauma and post-traumatic deformity.

Head and neck surgical oncology

Our head and neck surgical oncology service includes an outpatient and inpatient service developed to meet the needs of patients with head and neck swellings, ulcers and abnormal mucosal conditions including cancer and pre-cancer.

Abnormal mucosal lesions and management of oral cancer

A number of non-invasive techniques can be used in conjunction with clinical examination and conventional biopsy to evaluate lesions, which usually have red or white patches and ulcers. If malignant, the patient may be offered a full range of therapeutic modalities based on a

multi-disciplinary model developed at the University College Hospital. These modalities include surgery with advanced reconstruction and radiotherapy with appropriate iMRT. Photodynamic and laser treatment are also available.

Oral surgery

Treatments include:

- Buried and impacted teeth or roots

- Management of cysts of the jaw

- Bone grafting for implants

- Management of salivary gland disease

- Treatment of TMJ disorders and the management of complex facial pain.
