Ear Pinning (Pinnaplasty/Otoplasty)

Ear-pinning is a common procedure undertaken to amend hereditary imperfections or to balance features which may appear out of proportion.

Process

The surgery will require a local or general anaesthetic depending on each individual procedure.

An incision is made just behind the ear in the natural fold where the ear joins the head. This allows the surgeon to remove cartilage and skin as required to achieve the desired effect. Cartilage can also be shaped by trimming it and pinning it with permanent internal stitches.

Post-Surgery

Recuperation will depend on the individual but it is generally quick and you will be able to return to work after a few days. It will be a couple of months before you can resume contact sports.
