Plaque unveiling in memory of Dr Guéret-Wardle
Thursday 22 April 2010
The London Clinic yesterday (Wednesday 21 April)
unveiled a plaque in the recently opened cancer centre dedicated to
the memory of Dr David
Guéret-Wardle, who sadly passed away in December 2006.
Dr Guéret-Wardle was a loyal and highly
respected Consultant Physician and Medical Oncologist at The London
Clinic for 25 years and made a significant contribution to the set
up of the Clinic’s oncology service in the mid 1980’s. He took
great pride in his work and is remembered for his lengthy ward
rounds and his love of conversation and debate with his
patients.
His wife Suzan was joined by over 30 of his
friends, family and colleagues for the official unveiling ceremony
in the out patient unit on the third floor of the cancer centre;
where the plaque now takes pride of place outside two patient
treatment rooms.

Suzan said how honoured he would have been to
work in the Clinic’s spectacular new cancer centre and how pleased
he would have been, knowing that to some notable degree, it had
been spawned out of his own and his colleagues’ early work. Suzan
proudly unveiled the plaque, revealing words of dedication and a
photograph of Dr Guéret-Wardle with his unmistakeable smile – a
happy reminder for those who knew him and a warm welcome for those
who didn’t.
