Devonshire Place Road Closure: 21 May to 29 July 2007
May 2007
If you are coming to the Clinic between now and the end of July,
please be aware that the north end of Devonshire Place is closed to
all traffic. This temporary closure impacts how close you can get
by car to the main entrance of the Clinic and the availability of
nearby parking spaces.
The Clinic is building an interim bridge over the site of our
underground tunnel that will connect the main hospital at 20
Devonshire Place with our new Cancer
Centre across the road. Once complete, traffic will be able to
drive over the bridge while the tunnelling continues underneath the
support structure.
The construction of the bridge will take place during weekdays
only to minimise disturbance to the residents and businesses in the
local area. However, the construction of the Cancer Centre building
will continue on Saturdays.
There may be instances during the course of the works when it
may be necessary to close the pedestrian routes either side of the
work zone. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may
cause. However, if one footpath is closed the other will always
remain open to ensure that there is pedestrian access to Marylebone
Road.
We have made alternative arrangements for our ambulance drop off
bay for the duration of the works. This action should help maximize
the number of residential and "pay & display" parking spaces
available during this period.
Please be aware that pedestrians can still access the
Clinic through the main entrance at 20 Devonshire Place. The
building works will only impact vehicle access to the entrance at
20 Devonshire Place.
