Be Loud Be Clear
The London Clinic supports bowel cancer awareness campaign
Members of the Endoscopy team at The London Clinic were
making their feelings ‘loud and clear’ as they lent their support
to Beating Bowel Cancer’s annual awareness campaign, Be Loud Be
Clear (Wednesday 25 January 2012).
Joined by Consultant
Gastroenterologists, Dr Julian Teare and Dr Brian
Saunders, the team, based at the UK’s largest independent
hospital, donned their brightest and boldest outfits to help raise
awareness of the initiative, which encourages people to talk out
loud about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer.

Dr Saunders comments: “We were delighted to
become involved with this campaign and to help spread the word
about the importance of symptom awareness and early
diagnosis. We know that many patients are still embarrassed
to talk about their bottoms or bowel habits - but we have to tackle
this taboo if we are to see a reduction in the number of people
dying from this disease.
He adds: “Bowel cancer is one of the biggest
causes of cancer death in the UK, yet over 90% of bowel cancer
patients diagnosed with the disease will survive five years from
diagnosis if it is detected early.”
Colorectal experts from The London Clinic are
also welcoming the Government’s launch of a new awareness campaign
(Monday 30th January), Be Clear on Cancer. The national
advertising campaign will promote the importance of early diagnosis
with a specific focus on the over 55s. Read more here
