The London Clinic set for major new hospital investment
The London Clinic has announced proposals for a new state of the
art cancer treatment centre. The new building, designed to enhance
and compliment its surroundings, will improve the range and quality
of services available to patients.
Situated at the heart of London’s Harley Street medical community,
the proposals, on the site of 60/62 Marylebone High Street and
21/22 Devonshire Place were delivered to Westminster Council on
Thursday 9 February.
Chief Executive Malcolm Miller, announcing The London Clinic’s
planning application to Westminster Council, said: “These
proposals are a major investment in our hospital facilities that
will allow The London Clinic to continue providing progressive
treatments in a magnificent modern building that supports the
Harley Street area’s reputation for world class medicine.
“The Clinic is known for its commitment to excellence and these new
proposals will consolidate the comprehensive range of our cancer
services.”
In proposals produced by Anshen Dyer architects, the new cancer
treatment centre will provide radiotherapy, chemotherapy,
transplant and other specialised haematology/oncology facilities
including 47 individual bedrooms and 24 day care beds/chairs in a
modern, purpose-built environment.
23 Devonshire Place, a listed building next door, will also be
carefully converted to accommodate complimentary therapies, patient
support facilities and offices. There will be a tunnel linking the
new building to the main Clinic site across the opposite side of
Devonshire Place.
Whilst developing its proposals, The London Clinic has sought to
inform and involve neighbours and local community groups and as
part of this commitment, the Clinic is holding a neighbours’
evening on Thursday 23 February at the 1 Park Square West offices,
beginning at 6.30pm. Interested individuals are welcome to
attend.
